Tangled depicts personal struggles with understanding my identity. In the painting, I am wrestling with my mother’s scarf. I was inspired by the idea of being tangled as a physical representation of coming to terms with oneself. As the scarf has been passed down to me, it became a symbol of maternal protection, one that I would soon be leaving. The contrast between the light pink and black background gives a tense feeling of being trapped as I struggle to come to terms with myself.
