I want to be able to learn how to sew and how to create an item of clothing, and also improve my critical thinking skills. I have always had an interest in fashion design since a young age, and in 6th grade, I had the opportunity to learn how to make a skirt. It was a program called “Sew your own” that was on during Wednesdays and I was able to learn about materials and fabrics needed to make clothes. It was difficult but I really enjoyed the challenge. It was not up to standard and had lots of mistakes which made it unwearable, but I still learnt so much about perseverance and organisation from the project. Hopefully now since I am a bit older and have more experience I will be able to actually wear what I make. A couple of years back I discovered crochet by accident and fell in love with the process of creating things from scratch and turning them into wearable art. I have created bags and tops, and I have even challenged myself to make a cardigan. It was a very enjoyable experience, however, I could not wear it out or wash it, since the wool isn’t strong enough. This means that I am able to create pieces that I cannot wear, so I only create them for the process and to expand my imagination about fashion and clothing design.
