I am a guitarist and have been playing guitar for 2 or so years and throughout that time, I have not spent a lot of time creating my own songs alone. Since I have been listening to a lot of music, particularly over the summer (especially indie rock and indie pop), I am really interested in creating my own song in this style. I have a little previous experience in making my own songs for class assignments and throughout those experiences, I have learnt a lot from my mistakes. I think I know how to approach making a song now, such as time management, setting a clear goal (and sticking to it) and setting internal deadlines for the different stages before the final product and not just “going along with it” and making something I am not so proud of because I end up rushing. My personal interest in music is connected to my learning goal because music is a huge part of my life, and being able to explore making music to grow (as a guitarist in particular but also as a musician as a whole), is what I hope to achieve by completing this personal project.
