Making a comic
Angela
I am strongly interested in drawing. I started drawing when I was just a child, and I kept practicing it. I learned some sketching and coloring skills from an after-school class until I became a grade five student. There was too much school work, so I decided to learn by myself rather than go to the class. Even now, I still draw at home. Drawing every day has become my habit. I mainly draw anime people, sometimes characters in movies or games. And when I draw, I could really feel the expression of emotion. It is like you are telling something, and releasing the anxiety. So I really enjoy it. I also enjoy reading comics, especially Japanese comics like Attack on Titans, To Your Eternity, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I think it’s really interesting to see how different writers came up with different stories and different styles of storytelling. For example, the extremely powerful viewing angles for the Attack on Titans. The writer Hajime Isayama used these angles to show the power of the Titans and compared it with the powerless, weakness of humans. Successfully, he creates and strengthens the despair and hopelessness feeling to both the character and the readers. I really love this effect, and it helps me learn how a good comic author uses the scene to push their thoughts forward and tell visual stories as well as written ones.
