Discovering my culture through food
Adriana
This project has taught me the importance of the ATL skills we have always been taught to use. This project showed me the benefits of applying those skills in a way I hadn’t been exposed to before. I learnt how to use my communication skills to provide myself with support from my advisor. I learnt how important it is to plan everything that I need to do, which is where my planning skills are used. Planning skills is an area from the ATL skills that I am most unfamiliar with, and that came to light to myself when going through the process of this project. I have not done a project for such a prolonged period of time like this in middle school, especially one that is as sophisticated as Personal Project is. Because of this, I realised that planning is an incredibly essential skill that I should be able to use very comfortably in the future. Self-management was the ATL skill that I need to still work on, that definitely affected my project, I didn’t manage my time well enough which resulted in myself falling behind. So my biggest piece of advice to someone starting Personal Project is to make good use of the atl skills. Organise your time well so you have a structured plan that is easy to follow.
